The Graduate Certificate in ICT Education has been designed to directly benefit your school community. This is orchestrated mainly through the subjects: Technology Partners in Learning 1 and 2. These subjects will challenge you to foster change at your school, in the way that Information and Communication Technology is taught, integrated and fostered in day-to-day teaching. The remaining subjects give you further necessary skills to confidently promote and integrate ICTs within your school.
Specific benefits to your school community include:
- Design and delivery of a whole school Professional Development plan with a commitment to peer coach at least one other collaborating teacher in the integration of ICTs within the classroom.
- Design, delivery and evaluation of a problem-based WebQuest program within your class with the intention to share with at least one other collaborating teacher, along with modeling to other teachers on staff.
- Core knowledge and skills in Microsoft’s Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access programs to assist a school’s day-to-day use of such programs and empower teachers to use technology to teach as well as managing workload. A member of staff will be an accredited Microsoft Office Specialist.
- Understanding of hardware/software and technology trouble-shooting to promote ease of access and confidence for staff to integrate ICTs in their teaching.
Course Information:
Microsoft has partnered with Australia's largest supplier of Distance Education - Charles Sturt University - to develop a unique postgraduate level qualification for teachers who want to be able to develop and deliver engaging, technology-rich learning activities. This qualification is relevant to K to 12 teachers, across all key learning areas, offering meaningful and relevant professional learning experiences.
Graduates from the Graduate Certificate in ICT Education will:
- Have completed accreditation to deliver the Microsoft Partners in Learning program - a peer coaching program that will help their colleagues to develop the necessary technology skills and instructional strategies needed to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
- Have gained industry accreditation as a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) - an internationally recognised certification that the holder has advanced application skills - as an integral part of the qualification.
- Be able to effectively use a range of software to assess, diagnose and support learning.
- Be able to develop and apply information technology based interventions designed to meet the special needs of students in normal classrooms.
